HS Hurling team of the week

March 19, 2013

The hoganstand.com hurling team of the week.
It's Hurling team of the week time and there was plenty of debate over who should make the final cut.

1. Eoin Murphy (Kilkenny)

Murphy got the nod ahead of David Herity against the Deise and kept the Cats' first clean sheet of the league.

2. David Kenny (Offaly)

Kenny was one of the Faithful County's better performers as they robbed victory from the jaws of defeat against Carlow in Division 1A.

3. Ger Healion (Kilcormac-Killoughey)

Full-back Healion couldn't be faulted for Kilcormac-Killoughey's defeat in Sunday's All-Ireland Club SHC final against St Thomas'.

4. Michael Cahill (Tipperary)

Cahill and Tipperary have put the disappointment of their heavy opening round defeat at the hands of Cork well and truly behind them.

5. Michael Walsh (Waterford)

'Brick' Walsh battled hard but was unable to prevent Waterford from losing away to Kilkenny.

6. Pat Donnellan (Clare)

Clare boss Davy Fitz praised his half-back line following Saturday's 1-22 to 1-16 win over Cork and described his centre-back as 'outstanding'.

7. Darragh O'Connell (Kerry)

O'Connell caught the eye in Kerry's narrow 1-12 to 3-5 Division 2A win over visitors Wicklow.

8. Eoin Price (Westmeath)

Midfielder Price was amongst the goalscorers as Westmeath shaded a close Division 2A encounter with Laois, 2-18 to 2-15.

9. James Woodlock (Tipperary)

Woodlock put in an industrious 70-minute shift in the Tipp engine room and three points added gloss to a fine individual display.

10. Declan Hannon (Limerick)

Hannon's nine-point contribution went along way towards deciding the top of the table Division 1B clash against Dublin.

11. Richie Hogan (Kilkenny)

Hogan got through a lot of work around the middle third of the field as Kilkenny opened their Division 1A account at home against Waterford.

12. Colin Ryan (Clare)

Half-forward Ryan hit Cork for 0-12, nine frees, on Saturday night.

13. Rory Jacob (Wexford)

Jacob finished as top scorer for the Model County with 1-5 against Antrim.

14. Richie Murray (St Thomas')

Murray led the way for St Thomas' with 1-2 against Kilcormac-Killoughey in Croke Park on Sunday.

15. John O'Dwyer (Tipperary)

O'Dwyer helped himself to 1-6 as Tipperary claimed Galway's scalp yesterday.
