Brosnan hopes second spell as captain goes better

Kerry's Eoin Brosnan
Eoin Brosnan is hoping for better luck in his second stint as Kerry captain.
The Dr Crokes clubman is looking forward to the "huge honour" of captaining the Kingdom in 2013 but admits he has bitter memories of his last captaincy, when Meath defeated the Munster giants by 15 points in 2001:
"I have only bad memories about that, really," he says in The Star. "In 2000, Dr Crokes won the county final and I eventually broke into the team in 2001 during the championship.
"The club hadn't had a player on the Kerry championship team in a long, long time and it's something a club would like to avail of if they can at all.
"They asked me to take on the role before the Dublin game - that was my first start. At the time I said 'no' and then they said it to me again before the semi-final and I said 'yes'.
"Meath blew us apart. Straight after it, being a young fella, I had a few hard weeks. At this stage, I'm 32, a lot more mature and a lot more experienced.
"Looking at the panel, we have a lot of young fellas and what I hope to do is to relate to these fellas, pass on any experience I have to them."
