Clancy opts out

Galway's Matthew Clancy battles as he tries to chase down Alan Costello of Sligo during the replayed Connacht SFC semi-final at Markievicz Park - INPHO
Galway's Matthew Clancy has called time on his senior intercounty career.
The Oughterard clubman broke onto the Galway team in 2001 and the Tribesmen came through the back door and stormed to All-Ireland SFC glory that year, defeating Meath in the final.
The following year, he won an All-Ireland U21 FC medal, with Dublin on the losing side in the decider.
Clancy won four Connacht SFCs - in 2002, '03, '05 and 08. The 29-year-old was invited by current Galway boss Alan Mulholland to join the Tribesmen once more for their impending championship campaign.
But he has opted out and that decision effectively represents the end of a sparkling intercounty career.
