Moving club was a tough decision for Penrose

Tyrone's Martin Penrose
Tyrone star Martin Penrose admits leaving his home club of Aghyaran to join Carrickmore was one of the toughest decisions he has ever made.

The All-Ireland winning forward, who has been named in the Ulster team to face Connacht in Sunday's inter-provincial semi-final, has been living in Carrickmore - which is 40 miles from Aghyaran - since marrying a local girl two years ago.

"Aghyaran has been very good to me over the years. It was definitely a bit decision, leaving all my friends and club-mates," he said in the Irish News.

"Hopefully I'm still part of Aghyaran in some way. It has been a big part of my playing days, and getting me to where I am today, and I can't thank them enough. I'm living up there (in Carrickmore) now and I have work commitments. I suppose the travelling was the big killer."

He added: "Carrickmore is a big club and it's not going to be easy getting in there. They have a lot of great players and I'm going to have to work hard to get my place in the team. It's a challenge I'm looking forward to."
