Penrose on the move

Tyrone's Martin Penrose
Tyrone star Martin Penrose is on the brink of transferring clubs.

The All-Ireland winning forward's home club of Aghyaran have decided not to object to his proposed move to traditional giants Carrickmore, where he is married and has been living for the past few years, and the transfer form is now with the Tyrone county board. Aghyaran, which is situated on the Donegal border, is approximately 40 miles from Carrickmore, and with Penrose working in Ballymena of late, it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to train with his club.

A press release from Carrickmore stated: "Martin indicated his desire to move to our club towards the end of 2011.

"We are aware, given the nature of the man, that it was not a decision he took lightly. He has been living in the parish for some time now, but doe to family and work commitments, he has been finding the travelling most draining.

"As a club, we wholeheartedly welcome Martin and we are confident that he can make a positive contribution to our senior panel."
