Harnan to manage Meath U21s

December 01, 2010

Skryne manager Liam Harnan
Liam Harnan is set to combine his new role as a Meath senior football selector with that of under 21 manager in 2011.

The former All-Ireland winning centre back, who led Skryne to a surprise county championship success this year and to a place in the last four of the Leinster club championship, has been proposed for the under 21 post by the Meath executive committee. His appointment is expected to be ratified by club delegates at next Monday's county board meeting in Navan.

The Moynalvey native, who had been tipped to succeed the ousted Eamonn O'Brien as senior manager before deciding to row in behind Seamus McEnaney, replaces his former Royal County team-mate Colm O'Rourke in the under 21 hot seat.

O'Rourke, who had Trevor Giles as his assistant this year, was unable to prevent the Royals from going down to a first round defeat to neighbours Westmeath.
