Goalkeeper Bob Fitzgerald was the toast of Carnew after he almost single-handedly secured their place in the Wicklow SHC final.
In dreadful conditions at Aughrim last Sunday, Fitzgerald scored a penalty before saving three from Brandon Ryan, Eoghan Byrne and Mark Murphy to help the Emmets to a 3-1 shootout victory over Kiltegan after the sides had finished level on 0-14 to 1-11 after extra-time.
Padraig Doran and Eoin Kavanagh scored the other penalties for Carnew who will face Bray Emmets in the final. Christy Moorehouse and Eoin McCormack were the Bray goalscorers in their 2-17 to 0-8 semi-final win over Glenealy on Saturday.
