Blessington club notes

July 26, 2021

Good evening everyone, and what a fantastic week of beautiful sunshine we had. Tomorrow Monday 26th we will host our 2nd week of Kellogs Cul Camps from 10.00am until 2.00pm. For a smooth registration on Monday morning, please read carefully the following guidelines.

Parents must complete a return to play health questionnaire if they have not done so already. You must add the Blessington Cúl Camp to your profile. This can be done now.  Then each morning of the camp you must RECONFIRM IN THE ONLINE LINK THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO CHANGE TO THE HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE in order for your child to gain access to the camp. This can all be done in the link below. https://returntoplay.gaa.ie/

To add Blessington Cúl Camp please

1) Go to your profile

2) Scroll down to Your Clubs and click add another Club

3) In Dropbox under Association select Cúl Camps

4) In Dropbox under County Board select Wicklow

5) in Dropbox under Club Search select Blessington.

And to add to this we really hope that the children have a super week. Don’t forget to dress accordingly, Sun cream, hats, plenty of water and perhaps a raincoat (just in case)

Senior men travelled to Rathnew on Friday 23rd for div 1 league match and unfortunately were beaten by a point. The finishing score was Rathnew 1-09 Blesso 1-08. Next match is at home on Tuesday 27th against AGB. Please come and show your support to the lads.

Junior A matched was postponed from Friday 23rd and will now be played on Friday 6th August.

Junior C played Stratford on Thursday evening and came away with a massive score of 5-18 to 1-02. Their next match is the County Final from last year and it is scheduled to play in Aughrim Saturday 31th July with a throw in at 3pm.

Minors played a friendly on Wed at Home V An Tochar, a competative game considering the temperatures. With injuries and county hurlers not available some of the U15 lads joined the squad thanks to Jack Byrne, Ben Carroll, Tony Carroll and Aaron Keogh who all played well and were not out of place. Blessington came out on the right side of a 1 point win on a score of 4:05 to 2:10. Thanks to AnTochar team and management for travelling up for what was a competative sporting encounter. Still plenty to work on but some good forward play and movement.

Training Mon and Wed 7:30pm and Sunday 10am.

Next match away V AGB on Tuesday  3rd at 7pm

U15 Div 01 Squad will play Annacurra at home Wednesday July 28th

U15 Div 03 Played An Tochar Friday night last  at home. With lads away on hols or injured its hard to get Squads out but thanks firstly to 2008 lads who stepped up and filled squad for game.We started off game really well and in intense heat worked some fantastic scores. An Tochar like all good teams took over for second Quarter and put us to  the test but lads battled right to end and came away with a fantastic win 5.09 to 4.07.Work ethic right to the end from Panel got us a great win.

U14 Player Pathway we played St Kevin's away this am and again with a lot not available 2008 stepped up yet again to help us complete fixture. Again lads played really well and Strong St Kevin's team superior Goal Taking opportunities won game in the end. But we couldn't  fault lads work rate and great ball movement throughout in a very warm morning in Hollywood. Fairplay to both Teams for huge effort in the heat.

U9 go games took place at home Saturday morning with both Valleymount and Dunlavin travelling.

A local derby atmosphere, games were competitive throughout with great attacking football but also getting stuck into every tackle and never giving up. Bumps and bruises all part of the game. Lads really improving and playing as a team, it’s a pleasure to watch the team grow with every outing. Special thanks to Healthy Club team for providing fresh fruit on the day, the lads loved it. Training Monday and Saturday next week.

U9s played Carbury in the NKL Saturday afternoon. We dominated from the start and took scores at every opportunity. Lads got to play in variety of positions and everyone contributed to a great team performance well done.

Training Monday and Saturday next week.

Super performance from the U14s Blue team in Carnew this evening. Under very warm conditions the girls were immense in every single part of the game from Emma Carpenter who made some super saves right through to the forwards the passing, scoring, defending was immense. Very hard to pick  POTM as all were brilliant but has to go to Erin McMahon tonight for her amazing performance through the whole game & for scoring 2 of the goals.

Best wishes to Sophie who picked up an injury
