Lotto –Next draw on Wed 27 March in The Avon. Jackpot €3200. Due to our new bingo starting the Lotto will now be held this Wed to coincide with the launch of our bingo.  Thanks for continued support.

Bingo - Our Bingo will commence at 8.15pm. Shuttle bus available from various locations in Blessington €2.00. Line €20, Double line €40 and Full House €80. Books and flyer sheets €10.

Club Registration – For anyone who has not registered yet forms are available on our website. Registration evenings will be held on Tues and Thurs to 28 Mar in the clubhouse 7.45pm – 9.30pm. Wicklow Seniors Men – Well done to the lads who had a win over London in Aughrim on Sun 24 Mar winning on a scoreline of 0-8 to 0-6. Blessington players on the panel was Mikey O’Connor, Patrick O’Connor and Anto McLoughlin. A break now before Championship in May.

Leinster Post Primary - Naas CBS defeated Wicklow Schools in the Leinster post primary schools A final on Wed 20 Mar after extra time.  Naas CBS had 3 Blessington GAA players – Conall O’Gallchobhair, Ethan Cotter and Kevin Quinn. They will now play Popailscoil Chorcha Duibhne in the semi-final. On the Wicklow school’s selection was Craig Maguire.

Ladies

Wicklow Seniors Ladies – Hard luck to the ladies who were beaten away v Meath on Sun 24 Mar 1-18 to 3-06. Well done to Kim Connors who is our No 1.

Blessington Senior Ladies – BYE for Blessington on 31 Mar.

Div 3 ladies – Sun 31 Mar v Rathnew TBC.  

U14 girls - Hard luck to Blessington U14 girls who were beaten 0-4 to 0-2 in the Div 1 Feile Final in Ballinakill on Sun 24 Mar. What a terrific bunch of girls. The club are very proud of you all. Great wins over Baltinglass and St Pat’s on Sat 23 Mar in Blessington to get to the Final. Well done team and management. Hopefully, justice will prevail.

U12 girls White– Home v AGB on Sat 30 Mar at 11am. U12 girls Blue away v Baltinglass on Sun 31 Mar 11am.

Juveniles

Blessington GAA Easter Camp – Mon and Tues 15 and 16 Apr 10am to 2pm. Cost 1 Child - €20. 2 children €35. 3 children €55. 4 children €70. Minor’s – Blessington GAA Minors played away to Rathnew in round 3 of the Division 1 league on Sun 24 Mar. With 9 panel members not available this was always going to be a tough test. The lads put in a fantastic effort and were unlucky not to take at least a point in tough windy conditions. Big thanks to the 3 U15s who came up to fill the holes and put in a big performance. Blessington led by 6 points to 5 at half time. Rathnew had the better of the second half exchanges and had etched out a 4-point lead going in to injury time. Luke O’Brien got a goal to narrow the gap to 1 point, however we couldn’t find the extra score to get a draw. Final Score Rathnew 0-12 Blessington 1-08. Scorers Dan Cooney 0-1, Jamie Hamilton 0-1, Luke O’Brien 1-0 and Jake O’Kelly 0-6. Next up is a home game v Baltinglass on 8 Apr.

U14’s – Group 1 B Feile. Sat 30 Mar. Venue TBC. Blessington v Annacurra, Tinahely v Blessington and Annacurra v Tinahely.

U12’s NKL - Our lads got 2019 NKL league off to a great start with a big win over Raheens at home Sun 24 Mar. Lads scored a good few early goals and despite strong early second half fight back by travelling team our boys got stuck in and with some fantastic moves ending in great scores finished game out very strong winners. 
We only had 11 players available today so well-done boys for giving your all to final whistle. Thanks to Pat Dunne for refereeing the match.

U13’s– Training Mon and Wed 18:30 to 19:45. It is important to attend training as Wicklow league starts in a couple of weeks and we need to do a lot of work prior to this having lost a lot of training due to the weather.

U11’s – Lads away v Confey in the NKL on Sat 30 Mar 4.30pm.

U8/U9’s - U8’s & U9’s boys training on Wed at 6.30 to 7.30. New boys always welcome. U9’s Monster Blitz in Ballinakill on Sat 30 Mr at 11am. U9’s away v Clane on Sat 30 Mar in NKL 3.30pm.

U8’s - First match as U8's on Sat 23 Mar away to Round Towers in NKL. We had 2 teams and won both matches comfortably. All players have progressed very well, and they are a credit to the club. It was great to bump into one of our own ex-players Kevin Foster who was with Round Towers. Big thanks to parents who travelled.

U7’s - U7 boys first outing at Go Games in Ballinakill on Sat 23 Mar. Played 3 matches and did brilliantly. Looking for more boys (born in 2012 or 2013) to join the Team. Training Monday evenings and Saturday mornings. Contact me if any queries on [email protected]. U7 boys away in NKL v Clane at 2.30pm on Sat 30 Mar.

Academy – Academy for boys and girls aged 4 to 6 is held every Sat at 10am. There is no charge for the first couple of weeks for new kids. Further info from Graham 0876393125.

Hurling

Hurling – Girls and boys of all abilities aged 6 and upwards are invited to join the Blessington GAA Hurling Club where you will learn to play an exciting sport in a fun and relaxed environment. All ages train regularly. If any child is interested please join our WhatsApp group b sending your name and phone number and email to Jack Whelan @0876678936 and we will keep you up to date with everything that is happening with hurling in Blessington, Valleymount, Kilbride and Lacken. Volunteers are always needed, so if any Mums or Dads wishing to relive their glory days on the pitch are welcome to help. Send your details to Jack and register your interest. All welcome. We look forward to meeting all our new players.

Wicklow U15 hurling - Well done to the team who beat Meath by 2 pts. Blessington lads on the team Austin Brennan, Sam Gough, Conor Richardson and Adam Williamson.

U9 - Well done to our U9 hurling team who played Coill Dubh. Everyone played so well. You would think we’re back training weeks. Player of the match was Layla McGrath. Well done to Cillian Taylor on his big puck outs and what a brilliant goal by Cillian Butler. Thanks to all the parents for traveling and especially Lisa Tobin who took our jerseys home for washing. Hopefully we will get back training Thursday. It feels great to get back hurling again.

U8 – On Sun 31 Mar away v Sarsfields.

Wicklow Cul Camps 2018 – www.wicklowculcamps.gaa.ie from 1 Mar 18. Only 200 places for football camp (8 July) and 150 for the hurling camp (22 July).

West Wicklow Wellbeing Workshop - Lisa Jackson - Blessington GAA new Health and Wellbeing Officer would like to promote the West Wicklow Wellbeing Workshop among our members and the wider Blessington Community. Starting on Thurs 4 April in The Avon at 7.30pm for 5 sessions. This is FREE OF CHARGE to attend but places need to be booked. Please contact Lisa on 086 3767534 to book a place. Over 18's only. This is a terrific workshop and for it to be held in Blessington is a great opportunity for everyone to avail of it. Physio - Upstairs in the clubhouse on Weds at 7pm. Adults needing full physio appointments MUST go through Pat Molloy and Juvenile through Barry Cotter.

Confirmation – Congrats to all the girls and boys who celebrated their confirmation on Fri 22 Mar.

Congratulations – Congrats to Patrick and Claire Magee on the birth of baby Rhona on Wed 20 Mar. A little sister for Katy May.  

Car parking at the pitch - Can all who use the Blessington GAA Astro and Pitches please Reverse In, Drive Out please? There are a lot of children who use the grounds and they have a habit of just running out. Please respect the job that our Health and Safety Officer Annmarie (or anyone else assigned to assist with parking) must do and if you are asked to move your vehicle and park correctly please do so without a fuss.

Clothing Collection ongoing - collecting good quality second hand clothing suitable for re-use. Please fill as many black bin bags as you can – the more we collect, the more our club receives.
