Meath's Padraig O'Hanrahan

Donegal and Meath are the pace-setters in Division 2B of the Allianz Hurling league two rounds in after picking up their second wins of the campaign this afternoon.

Donegal came through a battle with London to take home the points from Ruislip on a 1-18 to 2-13 scoreline.

Ronan McDermott’s goal sent the visitors towards a five-point lead at half-time and Malcolm Flannery would have the sliotar in the Exiles’ net again within three minutes of the restart.

London hung in there though and kept the heat on the Tir Chonaill men until the finish thanks to Ronan Crowley’s goal which, in the end, proved mere consolation.

Padraig O’Hanrahan struck for 0-15 as Meath saw off Sligo by 0-22 to 1-13 at Markievicz Park.

After leading by three at the half, the Royals conceded the game’s only goal to Joe McHugh nine minutes into the restart and the hosts would go on to take the lead.

The Leinster side steadied their ship though and, with O’Hanrahan in fine form, outscored their Connacht counterparts by 0-8 to 0-1 in the final quarter to seal the win.

In Aughrim, Wicklow got themselves up and running with a 0-15 to 0-12 win against visiting Tyrone.

In what was a tight contest, the teams were level at the end of normal time before Seanie Germaine’s ’65’ and two points from Diarmuid Masterson cemented the win for the Garden County.
