Tooreen stormed to their sixth Connacht club intermediate hurling championship title with a 3-21 to 2-12 win against Meelick Eircourt at King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park this afternoon.
Liam Lavin’s goal after three minutes set the tone for the Mayo champions against their Galway counterparts who found the net themselves through John Fleming in the 10th minute.
More goals from Sean Kelly and Mayo forward Lavin saw Tooreen advancing towards a 3-11 to 2-7 half-time lead though, with Jarlath McEvoy grabbing the second goal for Meelick Eircourt.
The second-half saw Tooreen extending their lead with Fergal Boland and Stephen Coyne very much to the fore for them as they regain the provincial crown with a 12-point win in the end.
