Many tributes have been paid to a former Armagh footballer who tragically passed away while on holidays in Lanzarote last weekend.

Gerard McCoy, who lived in Waterville, Co. Kerry but was originally from the Woodford area of Armagh, was a prominent player with Pearse Óg who also briefly represented his county at senior level. He is survived by his wife Hazel and children Grace, Chloe and Jamie.

Leading the tributes, his home club said: "The Pearse Óg committee and members are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former player and youth coach Gerard McCoy.

"We offer our sincere condolences to his wife and children, his parents, sisters, brothers and entire family circle and friends, many of whom have a close connection to our club.”
