Tributes have been flowing since news of the death of former Cork hurling star Ger Fitzgerald broke earlier this week.
The Midleton clubman won All-Ireland SHC titles with the Rebel County in 1986 and ’90, and was also captain of the 1992 Munster championship winning side.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has been among those to pay tribute to the late Mr Fitzgerald after the sad news of his passing on Tuesday.
Very saddened at the passing of Ger Fitzgerald, who made an outstanding contribution to GAA

Midleton's Ger Fitz was one of the good ones, why are they always taken from us too early? https://t.co/a38OWVhlpb

Such sad news about Ger Fitzgerald. Superb player, formed a truly legendary full-forward line with Kevin Hennessy and John Fitzgibbon. Part of a generation that gave Cork some amazing days. pic.twitter.com/m24X1DUsHm

One of my all time favourite pictures. 27 August 1992; Journalist Enda McEvoy interviews Ger Fitzgerald during a @OfficialCorkGAA senior hurling press night at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork ahead of their All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final. Rest in Peace Ger pic.twitter.com/RLGlcZOEJs
