Offaly LGFA have parted company with manager Greg Farrelly after a poor start to their Lidl National Football League Division 3 campaign.

The Faithful conceded a whopping 10-37 in defeats to Wexford, Carlow and Limerick, prompting the county board to bring Farrelly’s tenure to an abrupt end. It would appear that last Sunday’s 1-4 to 5-12 loss to Limerick in Farrelly’s home pitch of Edenderry sealed his fate.

"Following a meeting with the Offaly LGFA Executive and Intermediate Management last night, Greg Farrelly has been relieved of his role as manager, effective immediately,” an Offaly LGFA statement read.

Farrelly was in his second spell as Offaly ladies football manager, having reprised the role in late 2023, a decade after leading them to All-Ireland Junior Championship glory at Croke Park. He also guided the Faithful County to National League Division 4 and Leinster Junior Championship success in 2013 as well as to an All-Ireland Minor ‘B’ Championship final appearance in 2014.

With two teams making the drop to Division 4, Offaly will almost certainly be relegated if they lose their next game against neighbours Laois in Daingean on Sunday week.
