Crossmolina Deel Rovers captain Mikie Loftus paid an emotional tribute to the late Roisin Cryan after yesterday’s All-Ireland club IFC final victory over Ballinderry Shamrocks.
A Conor Loftus penalty deep injury-time sealed the title for the Connacht champions at Croke Park, where it finished 1-12 to 0-13.
The Mayo star’s fiancee Roisin Cryan tragically passed away earlier this month and, in a moving speech, Crossmolina captain Mikie Loftus dedicated yesterday’s victory to Roisin.
"While it is an amazing victory it is obviously bittersweet," he said from the steps of the Hogan Stand. Roisin Cryan was an amazing person and we as a team are lucky to have known her.
"Roisin was there celebrating after the good times last year and throughout the many bad times. I want to dedicate this victory to Roisin and I know she is looking down on us today."
