Pubs across Mayo enjoyed a massive surge in business following the county's historic All-Ireland football success last month.
According to AIB spending trends for July, pub spend soared by 210% during the three days from All-Ireland final on Sunday, July 26 to Tuesday, July 28 compared to the same period last year. The spending spree was sparked by Mayo's win over Kerry which ended a 75-year wait for the Sam Maguire.
Restaurant spend was also up 58% on the same period last year, while fast food spend jumped by 43%. Sports store spending also rose 138% year-on-year as football fever gripped the Western county.
