
Na Fianna came out on top in a nail-biting finish against Lucan Sarsfields this evening to claim their third Dublin senior hurling championship in-a-row by the narrowest of margins.
It finished 1-20 to 0-22 at Parnell Park, where Sean Currie’s point in the fourth minute of injury-time proved the difference between the sides at the end of a cracking decider in the capital.
The All-Ireland champions had trailed by 0-5 to 0-3 after the opening 10 minutes but got it level five minutes later and then went on to take in a 0-11 to 0-9 lead at the break.
Lucan started the second-half in good fashion, outscoring their opponents by 0-7 to 0-1 before conceding a 40th minute penalty which Na Fianna captain Donal Burke expertly dispatched to the net.
It was nip and tuck after that, with Lucan moving back into a 0-22 to 1-17 lead in the 59th minute ahead of the holders sending over the last three points, including this winner from Currie at the death:
