Aaron Kernan is set to be part of Meath football boss Robbie Brennan’s management team in 2026.

The former Crossmaglen and Armagh star worked as a defensive coach with Sligo this year under Tony McEntee this year, but will be involved with the Royals next year, according to The Smaller Fish GAA podcast.

Despite losing coaches Joe McMahon and Martin Corey on the eve of the Leinster SFC – former Dublin goalkeeper Shane Supple and ex-Summerhill and county midfielder Conor Gillespie stepped into the breach – Meath went on to enjoy their best season in years, culminating in an All-Ireland SFC semi-final appearance against Donegal.

Part of a famous footballing family, Kernan won four Ulster SFC titles with Armagh and was also named Young Player of the Year in 2009. With Crossmaglen, he garnered an incredible 18 Armagh SFC medals, eight Ulster and three All-Ireland club medals before hanging up his boots two years ago.
