Devlin poised to take Louth reins

July 14, 2025

Gavin Devlin

Gavin Devlin could be appointed as the new Louth senior football manager as early as this week.

The closing date for nominations was last Friday with Devlin believed to be the clear favourite to replace Ger Brennan, who stepped down after leading the Wee County to their first Leinster SFC title since 1957 earlier this summer. Peter Dooley, who was part of the outgoing management, is understood to be on the same ticket as Devlin, who is Louth underage football development coordinator.

If appointed, it would be the former Tyrone All-Ireland winner’s first time to take sole charge of an inter-county team, having previously been Mickey Harte’s right-hand man in Tyrone, Louth and Derry.
