Cork GAA county board meetings will continue to be held in camera after a motion to restore media access was ruled out of order this week.

In January 2024, Cork GAA’s management committee banned members of the media from attending and reporting on county board meetings, with the exception of county convention. The drastic action was taken amid reports that Cork GAA chiefs were not happy with how their affairs were being reported, especially with regard to the levy for clubs to help service the €31 million debt on SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

According to The Echo, a proposal to remove the ban was put forward at last Tuesday night’s February meeting, but was ruled out of order and a vote wasn’t taken.
