Former Westmeath dual star and Joe McDonagh Cup winning captain Cormac Boyle has announced his inter-county retirement.
Boyle made his senior hurling debut for the Lake County in 2012 before making the switch to football in 2017 after starring for Killucan in their run to the previous year’s county SFC semi-final. But he soon returned to the hurling fold and skippered Westmeath to a Joe McDonagh Cup final victory over Kerry in 2021.
The midfielder will continue to line out for his club Raharney, who he has won five county SHC medals with.
“All associated with Westmeath GAA would like to wish dual star Cormac Boyle the very best of luck for the future after he recently announced his retirement from inter-county action,” a Westmeath GAA statement read.
“Thanks Cormac for all the commitment and dedication you've shown for the maroon and white jersey over many years.”
