Barry O'Connor has vowed not to return to Australia until after St Martin's Leinster club hurling and football campaigns have ended.

O'Connor has lived Down Under since signing for the Sydney Swans in 2019 - he was on their books for three years - but has returned home to play for St Martin's in the 2024 and 2025 club championships, and scored 1-2 as they dethroned All-Ireland champions Na Fianna in last Sunday's Leinster club SHC quarter-final.

He and St Martin's other dual stars have two more big games coming up over the next two weekends, starting with a Leinster club IFC quarter-final away to Westmeath's Tubberclair next Saturday. They will be back in action again the following weekend against Naas of Kildare in the Leinster club SHC semi-final.

“I’ll stay until we’re finished here,” the son of Wexford 1996 All-Ireland SHC winner George O'Connor told reporters after last Sunday's game in Chadwicks Wexford Park.

“My cousin, Jack, who is playing too, is getting married in a few weeks so I definitely can’t miss that one! But yeah, look, I couldn’t miss this for the world. I’ll definitely be here until it finishes up.

“I’m in Sydney, with the rest of the Irish out there. It’s a good life out there, I really enjoy it.”
