A critically-acclaimed movie set in the world of smalltown GAA will be shown on TV for the first time this weekend.

‘Lakelands’, which follows the story of a young Gaelic footballer who struggles to come to terms with a career-ending injury sustained after an attack on a night out, stars Danielle Galligan of ‘House of Guinness’ and ‘The Walsh Sisters’, and Éanna Hardwicke of ‘Saipan’.

The film was filmed on location in Granard, Co. Longford, which is the home town of producers Robert Higgins and Paddy McGivney. The award-winning feature will have its TV premiere on RTÉ One on Saturday, October 25 at 9.40pm.
