Mayo's heroes reflect on unforgettable All-Ireland success on The Late Late Show

Mayo’s All-Ireland heroes were the first guests on the new season of The Late Late Show last night as they reflected on the county’s historic Sam Maguire Cup triumph.

Manager Andy Moran was joined by captain Jack Coyne, Aidan O’Shea, Mattie Ruane, Jordan Flynn, Kobe McDonald, Jack Carney, Diarmuid and Cillian O’Connor, along with a number of their All-Ireland winning teammates and members of the backroom team.

Speaking to host Patrick Kielty, the Mayo contingent looked back on the significance of their July 26th victory over Kerry at Croke Park, which ended the county’s 75-year wait for an All-Ireland senior football title and sparked huge celebrations across Mayo.

The programme also featured Mayo supporter Shane Fitzgerald, whose emotional celebration at the Hogan Stand went viral following the final, while Midwest Radio commentator Stephen Grealis recalled the experience of calling the historic victory.

It was a chance for the players and management to relive a remarkable day and reflect on what finally ending Mayo’s long wait for Sam meant to the county and its supporters.
