Tomás Ó Sé has questioned the need for further changes to the Gaelic football rule book after the GAA confirmed that a number of new proposals will be trialled later this year.

The Football Review Committee’s overhaul has transformed the game, with the 2025 and 2026 championships producing some of the most entertaining football seen in years.

However, the GAA is now considering further changes, with Colm Keys of the Irish Independent breaking the news yesterday that football's new Expert Advisory Group (EAG), chaired by Kevin McStay, will trial several proposals in the third-level Division 1 league.

Among the rules being tested are four points for a goal, restrictions on handpassing and fisting for points, an NBA-style back-court rule and shorter kick-outs.

Some of these ideas have been trialled before, and there is a possibility they could feature in next year's championship.

But Kerry legend Ó Sé believes the game should be given time to settle under the current rules.

The Kingdom's U20 manager took to social media to voice his frustration, writing on X: “Could we not just leave it and let teams get to grips with what’s there???

“No need at all for this. Best championship in years and we on about changes again.”
