Paul Conroy has handed the Galway footballers a major boost by returning to training.
It puts an end to speculation that the 2024 Footballer of the Year, who turns 37 in May, might not be involved this season.
“He’s back for the year,” Galway manager Padraic Joyce informed reporters after his side staged an incredible comeback to draw with Kerry in Austin Stack Park.
“So he has a few weeks to do. Look, we’ve been chatting to him all along, he just needed a bit of time and stuff.
“He’s two young kids at home. He’s a great wife there in Caroline, very supportive of him, so he’s committed and he’s glad to be back.”
On the comeback, Joyce said: “Probably from where we were, 12 points down with 17 minutes to go, to get a draw out of it was pleasing but we would be very disappointed with the way we played overall in the first half.
“We just could not hold onto the ball up front. We gifted Kerry 2-4 in the first half and I am disappointed with that because it is something we have done in our previous two games. And we tried to rectify it again but we didn’t. I have said over and over again, the heart and character in this group is outrageous.”
