Sunday’s crucial Allianz Hurling League Division 1B clash between Antrim and Laois is in doubt after an outbreak of sickness within the Saffrons’ squad.
It has been reported that as many as 12 players in the Antrim camp have been affected by the virus ahead of what is their last league outing in Belfast in four days’ time.
Antrim boss Davy Fitzgerald told BBC Sport NI: "A number of our players were unable to train on Tuesday and more are reporting unwell today.
"Our medics have confirmed it's a gastric bug. We are monitoring the situation and player welfare at this moment is our priority."
The Division 1B standings see Laois directly below the fifth-placed Glensmen with two games in hand, meaning that this weekend’s meeting between the two counties at Corrigan Park is essentially a four-pointer in the bid to avoid relegation down to Division 2.
However, with the virus outbreak in their camp, Fitzgerald’s side could now be in danger of being unable to fulfil the fixture against the O’Moore men.
