Gareth McKinless is free to play for Ballinderry in Saturday evening’s Ulster club IFC final against Arva after having a two-match ban overturned.
The Derry star has been cleared to play against the reigning All-Ireland club junior champions following an appeal to the DRA (Disputes Resolution Authority). McKinless was sent off after picking up a second yellow in Ballinderry’s Derry IFC final replay victory over Faughanvale, but was hit with a two-match suspension for protesting against the decision.
However, the 2023 All-Star defender was still able to play in Ballinderry’s Ulster semi-final win over Derrylaughan after the ban was temporarily lifted following his appeal to the DRA, who have now made a final decision on the matter.
McKinless already served a two-match ban earlier this year following his dismissal for a high-profile incident involving Galway’s Damien Comer in the All-Ireland SFC round-robin series.
