Kerry GAA plans to redevelop Fitzgerald Stadium at a cost of €72 million.

Addressing last night's county convention in Tralee, Kerry GAA chairman Patrick O’Sullivan revealed that he had already spoken to An Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Sports Minister Jack Chambers and Minister for Education and Kerry TD Norma Foley about financing the proposed redevelopment of the Killarney venue, which would also host concerts, conferences and other major events.

“Fitzgerald Stadium is regarded as home to the Kerry footballers, but now the stadium needs a major refit and upgrading to a multi-event centre to cater for the needs of the people of Kerry into the future," he said.

"It needs to be modern and comfortable for our spectators not only to enjoy big GAA games but also to attract some of the finest Irish and international entertainment acts to this county.”
