Andy McEntee’s future as Meath football manager will be decided at a county board meeting tonight.

Club delegates will gather in the Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim to vote on whether or not to retain McEntee for a sixth year. It comes after the Meath GAA executive committee last week voted 8-7 against him continuing in the role.

The outgoing manager is hoping clubs will go against the recommendation of the executive committee, something that previously happened in 2010 when Eamonn O’Brien was ousted against their wishes, and again in 2012 when Seamus ‘Banty’ McEnaney was retained after the executive brought a recommendation for the current Monaghan boss to be removed in mid-season.

McEntee's removal will require a two-thirds majority, meaning the odds are stacked in his favour of being handed another term.
