Kerry minor club footballer airlifted to hospital after match abandoned

The player has since being given the "all clear" to return home from hospital.

A Kerry minor club footballer had to be airlifted to hospital after he suffered a head injury during a championship match earlier today.

The round 2 fixture between South Kerry and Laune Rangers in Waterville was abandoned after just five minutes when the incident happened.

The player, who was playing for Laune Rangers, was tended to on the pitch for an hour and then taken to hospital in a helicopter.

This evening, Laune Rangers GAA provided a positive update on social media with the player concerned being given the "all clear" to return home from hospital and thanked those who assisted him.
