John Maughan hailed Offaly's character after they withstood a second half fightback by Louth in yesterday's re-fixed Allianz Football League Division 3 clash in Drogheda.

"The lads showed great resilience and character," the Faithful County boss is quoted as saying in the Irish Daily Star.

"A gale blowing down the field, but when Louth came back to a single point that's when the character shone through. Because we went up and scored the last two to win by two."

He added: "We have elements of our game to tidy up, no question about it. We're into giving value for money because if you want excitement or a roller-coaster of emotions, you got it there today."
