U12 League:

Well done to our U12 teams who both had some tough matches this week against Kinnitty and Belmont. The girls put in a super effort!

U10 Blitz:

Well done to our U10s who had their blitz on Thursday evening in Birr where they played some great games against Birr and Ballinamere!

U14 Championship:

Our U14s were in action on Friday evening in the first round of the U14 Championship against St. Sinchill’s.

The K/K U14 team got off to a very quick start with centre forward Saoirse Murphy collecting up the ball and hitting a long strike into the forward line that was gathered up by Alana Geller who sent the ball into the back of the net. St. Sinchill’s responded immediately and got the ball into the K/K backline, but full back Amy Bracken stayed calm under pressure and cleared the ball out to Megan Talbot on the wing. In the middle of the field Adele Nugent took a long range shot at a point and was unlucky when it sailed just wide. Shortly after, Cleo Meehan won a free after some tough tackles in the forward line and Saoirse Murphy converted it into a point.

St. Sinchill’s kept coming forward with the ball and goalie Lisa-Marie Newton was forced to make a super save and this was followed by a point from play by Alana Geller. Millie Kavanagh went on a brilliant run towards the goals but was blocked by the St. Sinchill’s goalie at the post. In the half-back line, centre back Holly Guinan stopped a St. Sinchill’s forward with a great hook. Rosie Hynes scooped up the ball and handpassed it out to Megan Talbot who cleared it up the field. During the final ten minutes of the first half, there was heavy rain, but the K/K girls rallied and kept playing hard, finishing up with a scoreline of 3-05.

At the beginning of the second half, Saoirse Murphy was unfortunate to miss two points, but on her third attempt she hit the ball into the top of the net. Grace Maher followed with a point. Adele Nugent did some serious running in the centre of the field and hit a long ball in towards the goals that was caught by Grace Maher and flicked into the net. Grace Maher ran riot in the forward line scoring another point and a goal after gathering up Saoirse Murphy’s free. However, the St. Sinchill’s side continued to play hard, and Lisa-Marie Newton had to make another save to deny them a goal. Grace Maher scored another goal, and Ruth Fox scored a point after a scuffle in front of the goals to finish off the game. The K/K side scored 7-08 and won their game against St. Sinchill’s after a brilliant showing.

U8 Blitz:

Well done to our U8s who were out on Saturday morning in Ballinamere playing their blitz with games against Ballinamere/Durrow, Drumcullen, Kinnitty and Shinrone!
