Offaly have been assured promotion to Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League following Dublin’s defeat of Carlow at Parnell Park this evening.
The capital men recorded a 2-29 to 3-17 victory against their Leinster counterparts and it now means that Offaly are promoted ahead of their sixth-round meeting with Waterford in two weeks’ time.
David Purcell and Ronan Hayes struck Dublin’s goals in the first-half as they bounced back from their late defeat to Waterford last weekend to hand the Barrowsiders a nine-point loss.
However, it could be a case of too little, too late for Niall Ó Ceallacháin’s side in the race for Division 1A status, as a win for Waterford tomorrow against Westmeath in Mullingar tomorrow (2pm) will see the Deise men joining Offaly in promotion ahead of the teams’ scheduled last round meeting in Dungarvan on March 22nd.
Offaly have been promoted to Division One A of the Hurling League.

TweetHuge congrats to @Offaly_GAA senior hurlers on their promotion to Division 1A. 4 years ago we were playing in the Christy Ring. Massive credit to our players, management & backroom room who have worked so hard. Well done lads, 👏👏👏
