Tullamore’s Cormac Egan and Charlie Mitchell from Kilcormac/Killoughey have been chosen as the 2024 Offaly Senior Footballer and Hurler of the Year respectively.

Egan has been recognised for his all-action performances for club and county, while last year’s U20 hurling winner Mitchell takes the senior award on this occasion after starring for Kilcormac/Killoughey in their Sean Robbins Cup success and Offaly in their Joe McDonagh Cup triumph. Mitchell got the nod over his club and county team-mate Adam Screeney who is, however, named as U20 Hurler of the Year after inspiring Offaly to All-Ireland glory.

The Players of the Year were selected by a panel of local journalists, with the awards set to be presented on Friday evening, February 7 at the Tullamore Court Hotel. In a change from previous years, Camogie and Ladies Football winners were chosen in the senior, intermediate and junior grades by the Associations themselves, as was the Handball recipient.

Meanwhile, former All-Ireland hurling and football winner Liam Currams will be inducted as a dual recipient into the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame inductee is chosen by the Offaly GAA Management Committee.
