Tullamore Court Hotel Senior B Football Championship.
Clara 2—13 Ballycumber 1—10.
Ballycumber and Clara brought the best of each other in this entertaining game played in excellent conditions in Pollagh on Friday evening. The Championship favourites were pushed all the way by a much improved Ballycumber team. The game was played in a sporting manner and knocks were given and taken, but one dangerous hit on Cormac Quinn did not receive the correct sanction. Joe Lowry opened the scoring with a point and Clara scored the next three before Luke Gavin Mangan scored a point. Again Clara scored three more before Joe Lowry got his second point from a free. Ritchie Dunne pointed a 45 after a shot from Joe Lowry was well saved by the goalkeeper. Clara finished the first half scoring with a point from play to leave the score at 0—7 to 0—4.
Clara got the first point of the half and Ballycumber replied with a goal by Adrian Kelly after Joe Lowry had done well to knock a ball that was going wide into his hands. Once again Clara responded with three points including a converted 45. Joe Lowry added to his tally with a point from a free. In a breakaway Clara got through for a goal to which Cormac Quinn replied with four points in succession to narrow the gap. Joe Lowry left one point between the teams with a great score after a long run. As the game entered the final minutes Clara got a point from a free and in injury time added a goal and point to give a flattering impression on the scoreboard.
