Cul Redz on Tour
Edenderry GAA completed their Cul Redz Coaching on the Green sessions with a very successful visit to The Sycamores on Saturday 27th April last.

This session saw over 70 children aged between 4 & 8 enjoy coaching in both hurling & football before they played a short game and ran a relay race at the end.

Edenderry GAA wish to thank all who helped coach at this session especially Derek Kelly & Keith McGuinness who turned up before they went off to Croke Park to represent Offaly.

A big thank you also to The Sycamores Residents Association for their assistance in organising this event and to all parents who turned up on the day.

Cul Redz Summer Sessions

Our Summer coaching sessions commence this week at Edenderry GAA with our Cul Redz Hurling on Thursdays at 6 to 7pm and our Football on Saturday mornings from 10.30 to 12.00.

The programme is delivered by a group of club coaches including some of our Senior players and occasionally some our County Stars drop in to help out.

Our nursery concentrates and is delivered through the GAA ABC/Have a Ball Nursery Programme. It involves a series of fun based exercises to develop movement skills for children aged 4-8 years old. These skills form the basis for the later development of the specific skills of hurling and Gaelic Football. The level of competency with which one can perform these skills is referred to as their level of physical literacy.

U12 Hurling Blitz

Our U12 Hurlers travelled to Clara last week to take part in the opening Go Games Blitz of the year. These young hurlers took on and enjoyed wins over two Clara teams and a team from Na Fianna. Well done to all the players involved.

Offaly GAA has launched a full programme of Summer Go Games at U8, U10 & U12 level for both Hurling & Football. These fixtures can be viewed on our website www.edenderrygaa.com.

Edenderry Ladies Football News

Under 12s: Edenderry Ladies GAA Under 12 team played their third championship game on Sunday last April 28th against pre championship favourites St. Rynaghs in Tullamore. Captain Rachel O'Reilly chose to play with the strong breeze in the first half and unlike previous games the Edenderry girls made a very good start to the game and by half time were two points to the good 0-05 to 0-03 aided by the excellent free taking of Rebecca McDonnell. The girls battled bravely in the second half against the elements but in the end it was 2 late goals from St. Rynaghs which separated these two great teams with the final score being 2-06 to 0-06. The girls can be very proud of their efforts and this was by far their best performance this season against a very good St. Rynaghs team. Edenderry had stars all over the field and this gives them great momentum for their final game in the group against Tullamore in two weeks time. Team: Tara Dunne, Aisling Blong, Angela Brady, Lucy O'Neill, Rachel Kelleghan, Niamh Brady, Alicia Kavanagh, Aoibheann McAndrew (0-1), Megan Callan, Rachel O'Reilly (Capt), Rebecca McDonnell (0-4), Stephanie Williams, Jessie Brereton (0-1), Cliodhna Breen, Chloe Monaghan Subs. Aoife Tyrrell, Jasmine Rowe, Shauna Farrell, Michelle Cullen, Kaitlyn Jones, Molly Furey, Amy Dunne, Megan Maloney.

Under 14s: Edenderry Ladies GAA Under 14 team played the second game of their championship against Naomh Ciaran on Wednesday last April 24th. Naomh Ciaran have dominated this age group over the past few years and are once again hot favourites to come through Offaly as well as being current Feile Champions. Edenderry played all their football in the first half and were leading the game approaching half time following 2 great Lauren Oglesby goals and 2 points each from Sarah Cummins and Chloe Cronin. In the second half the Naomh Ciaran girls showed their class and with Edenderry tiring the game fizzled out and finished with a goal flourish for the opponents. The girls gave their all again and even though they have lost both of their first two games in the group they are not found wanting for effort and commitment. Team and scorers: Dawn O'Brien, Lucy O'Neill, Alice O'Neill, Sarah Guing, Joanne Lynch, Eimear Lawless, Fiona Harte, Emily Walsh, Sarah Cummins (0-2), Saoirse Ankers, Chloe Cronin (0-2), Chloe Pearson, Aisling Kelliher, Lauren Oglesby (2-0), Cliodhna Breen Subs.
