Kilcormac/Killoughey Camogie Notes

The Kilcormac Killoughey Junior team that played Tullamore

Under 15 League:

Super well done to our U15 team who had a strong win over Naomh Bríd Camogie Club last Wednesday in Mountbolus. The girls fought hard all around the field.

Junior Cup:

Our Junior Team played Tullamore in the second round of the Junior Cup last Wednesday. Due to a waterlogged Dr. Kelly Field, the game was relocated to Kilcormac GAA Pitch.

Tullamore commenced proceedings by popping over two points from play before an Ellen Hayden knee injury put a stop to the game. Huge credit is owed to both the Kilcormac/ Killoughey and Tullamore first aid teams on assisting with the injury. After a couple of minutes, the game resumed with Aoife Currams coming on for Ellen Hayden. Tullamore dominated the first half with Emma Mulrooney being the only K/K player able to put a score on the board from a 45. The first half ended 0-01 to 0-09.

The second half, despite all of K/K’s work, was much the same with Tullamore seemingly unstoppable from scoring points. Goalkeeper, Eimear Rigney and the full back line of Kate Feighery, Elizabeth Kilmartin and Captain Sarah Meacle did however manage to keep Tullamore from finding the back of the net throughout the game despite some close calls in the second half. Emma Mulrooney slotted over two more frees in the second half and Caoimhe Quinn in midfield scored the only K/K point from play. The final score ended 0-04 to 0-12, a score not representative of K/K’s work rate.

Team: Eimear Rigney, Kate Feighery, Elizabeth Kilmartin, Sarah Meacle, Ellen Kavanagh, Eadaoin Kilmartin, Sarah Guinan, Caoimhe Quinn, Saraoh Doyle, Anna Doherty, Emma Mulrooney, Isabella Gleeson, Marian Bracken, Ellen Hayden, Carol Mahon, Aoife Currams.

Scorers: Emma Mulrooney (0-03), Caoimhe Quinn (0-01)

U11 Blitz:

Well done to our U11 team who had a super morning at their blitz last Saturday hosted by St. Cillian’s Camogie Club!

U10 Blitz:

Our U10s had a super day on Sunday as they travelled to Maynooth to play Athenry Camogie Club, Straffan Camogie Club, Johnstownbridge and Eire Og Corra Choill in a blitz. The girls then headed towards Croke Park where they watched the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Camogie Finals. No doubt the girls had an amazing day of camogie! Thanks to all the supporters who travelled on the bus with the girls to cheer them on!
