The Kinnitty Under 16 team that overcame Belmont

Under 16s

Our Under 16s had their second match in this year's Championship last Wednesday evening when they played Belmont in Kinnitty.

The girls had a very strong first half and proved to be too strong for Belmont, scoring 3-5 to no score with the goals coming from Amber Mortimer, Hannah Robinson and Aoibhe Longworth.

The second half continued in a similar vein with our girls adding an additional 1-5 to their tally to run out comfortable winners with the final score reading 4-10 to 0-2.

Team:  Abi Browne, Aoife McGovern, Alison Ryan, Abbie Sheppard, Maisie O'Neill, Meadbh Dooley, Ella Boland, Moya Guinan, Caitlin O'Neill, Kate Browne, Amber Mortimer, Katie Standish, Hannah Robinson, Aoibhe Longworth, Kate Maher

Subs:  Keira Leahy, Aine Kinsella, Kate Harris, Amber O'Brien, Aisling Farrell, Caoimhe O'Shea, Roisin Flanagan

Scorers:  Amber Mortimer 1-5 (4 frees), Aoibhe Longworth 1-2, Hannah Robinson 1-0, Kate Harris 1-0, Meadbh Dooley 0-2, Kate Maher 0-1

Under 14s

On Friday evening our Under 14 team also had their second match in this year's Championship when they played St Sinchills.  The match was originally due to be played in Killurin but was switched to Clareen due to pitch unavailability.

Similar to Wednesday evening's match the Kinnitty girls proved to be too strong for their opponents and racked up a high score in the first half, hitting an eye catching 7-5 with the goals coming from Zoe Farrell and Caoimhe O'Shea, Meadbh Dooley and Amber Mortimer helping themselves to a brace each.

In the second half the Kinnitty coaches rang the changes and even though they only had one sub they were constantly changing the team which helped make for a more competitive game.  Despite that the first score of the half was a goal from Amber Mortimer.  Credit to St Sinchills who fought bravely and didn't give up and were rewarded when they scored 1-3.  Final score, St Sinchills 1-3, Kinnitty 9-6
