Under 8s

Well done to our Under 8 girls who enjoyed their latest Go Games of the Summer last Tuesday in Mucklagh where they joined Belmont, Edenderry, Naomh Brid and Shamrocks for games.  Keep up your great work girls.

Under 15s

Our Under 15s had a difficult opening to this year's League on Wednesday evening when they played Kilcormac/Killoughey in Mountbolus.  While a couple of girls were unavailable for the game, it does not hide that the girls lost out to a very strong Kilcormac/Killoughey team.  The girls will now face Naomh Brid in their next match in the League.

Intermediate Cup

After having a bye in the first round our girls played their opening match in this year's Intermediate Cup on Saturday evening when they took on St Rynaghs in Kinnitty.   As the girls went through their pre match routine in the very warm heat, the sound of distant rumbles of thunder caught their attention and just as referee, John McDonnell threw the ball in to start the match, large drops of rain began to fall which quickly turned to a thundery shower.  Whether it had any impact on both teams, only they know but the first half belonged to St Rynaghs as they dominated the game and led 1-5 to 0-4 at half time.  Strangely, the Kinnitty management team might not have been too displeased with that score line as it did not reflect the visitor's dominance of the half.

Whatever words were said to the girls during the break it seemed to have the desired effect when play resumed and they  reeled in the St Rynaghs lead courtesy of two quick fire goals with Alannah Dooley hitting the first and Leanne Mahon firing home the second to leave our girls leading by a point at the unofficial 2nd half water break.

When play resumed St Rynaghs quickly drew level and then went ahead but credit to the Kinnitty girls they did not panick.  A point from Leanne Mahon levelled the scores and it was shortly followed by another from Aoife Bergin.  A brace of points by Patrice Delaney from placed balls left three points between the teams.  Late on a close range free for St Rynaghs gave them the opportunity to try force an equaliser but the free was unable to find its way past the wall of Kinnitty defenders and our girls went on to win by 3 points with the final score reading Kinnitty 2-10, St Rynagh 1-10.

Well done to the girls and their management team and they will now prepare for their next match against Shinrone.
