Pardy, Peter

January 12, 2012
On October 28th, 2011 Peter Pardy, Kileen, Birr and formerly of High Street, suffered serious injuries while working in High Street, Birr.

His fellow workers, neighbours, GP and ambulance services came to his aid and he was taken to Tullamore Regional Hospital. Regrettably he passed away later that day. The people of Birr were shocked when news spread of his death.
Peter had been working for Seamus Bradley for a number of months and was in great spirits after his boss informed him that he had work for another year. Peter was eager to tell his former FAS colleagues whom he had worked with the good news of having work for a year, particularly as his son was getting married in 2012.

There was great sadness in Birr on the weekend of his sad passing and many of his friends openly wept. The great bonds that he had formed with his co-workers in FAS, where he was involved in the building of the wall at the Marian Hall and terracing walls and dressing rooms at Birr Hurling Field, was evident. Sympathy is extended to his colleague Frank Smith, whom he had worked with for three years and Liam Moran and his 19 other co-workers.

Peter was a great Birr and Offaly Hurling and Football supporter and he rarely missed a game. His great friend David Coffey carried Peter to all the games, from Under 12s to senior matches.
Peter and his extended family were also passionate about Greyhound Racing, Track and Coursing. The Pardys were members of Roscrea Coursing Club and once had a dong running in the Members Stakes.

The Pardys were great outdoor men. Peter liked hunting rabbits, foxes and badgers. With their late father Tommy and uncle Bill and nephew Brendan O'Callaghan, they would clean the bank for cutting turf and all the Pardys would wheel and cut the turf and the bank of turf would be completed in a single day.
Their late mother Agnes Naylor died at a very young age and Tommy and Agnes' mother helped in rearing and caring for all 10 children with the help of Uncle Bill.

Peter worked on the building truck and also worked for the ESB. He met his wife to be, Susan Thompson of Roscrea and married on the 26th of March 1983. They were blessed with two lovely children Geoffrey and Laura. They resided in Birr for a number of years and subsequently purchased a house in Killeen, Birr. Peter had a great sense of humour and enjoyed a pint and the banter with anyone whom he encountered through hurling and social occasions. Peter will be a great loss to all who knew him, particularly his wife and children, brothers and sisters and his many friends.

There was a large attendance at his removal from his home to St Brendan's Church and also at his funeral at Clongohill Cemetery after Concelebrated Mass by Fr Michael Reddan, Fr David Carroll and Fr Tony Cahir.
Peter was predeceased by his parents Tommy and Agnes, brother Kevin, sisters Biddy, Susie and Elsie.

Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife Susan, son Geoffrey, daughter Laura, brothers Billy, Mickey, Toby, Tommy, sisters Mary, Pauline and brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, counsins, relatives, neighbours and friends.
