Waiting for the Keegan Cup at Ashbourne
The destination of the Senior, Intermediate and Junior Football Championship titles have been decided.
No Pairc Tailteann no problem. Devenish park and Donaghmore Ashbourne has stood up to the mark.
The story so far:
Sunday: Wolfe Tones claimed their first Meath senior football championship title since 2021 with an impressive 1-19 to 0-12 victory over Donaghmore/Ashbourne this afternoon at Ashbourne.
An electric start at the Donaghmore/Ashbourne grounds saw Tones build up a 0-8 to 0-3 lead after 25 minutes before Tom Gavigan struck for a goal two minutes later.
Donaghmore/Ashbourne responded with five unanswered points in the run-up to half-time, as Zach Thornton, Bryan Menton, Darragh McGovern and Andrew Colgan (two-point free) all found the target to leave the score at 1-8 to 0-8 at the break.
Sean Penny, Sáran Ó Fionnagáin (2) and Thomas O’Reilly added to Tones’ tally after the restart. Caolan Ward and Andrew Tormey then exchanged scores, leaving five points between the sides with 15 minutes remaining.
Ó Fionnagáin and Colgan (‘45’) each hit scores before Kyle Moran pushed the Kilberry outfit's tally to 1-15, and further points from O’Reilly (2), Ward and Oisín Martin sealed the club’s third-ever Keegan Cup triumph.

Wolfe Tones 1-19 Donaghmore Ashbourne 0-12
Saturday: Duleek Bellewstown claimed their first Intermediate Football Championship title since 2005 with ten points to spare over Navan O’Mahony’s on a packed pitch 6 at Devenish Park. The winners bossed the opening half and led 0-9 to 0-4 at the break, midfielder Shane Crosby with two 2 pointers. O’Mahony’s came back out a different team and took the lead after ten minutes outscoring the opposition 1-6 to 0-1, two pointers from Paddy Dillon and Aodhan Mallon along with an Evan Coffey goal. Amazingly Mallon’s two pointer was to be their last score as Duleek Bellewstown totally dominated till the final whistle. Substitute Alan Bowden kicked three points, Sam O’Leary hit 1-1 and Crosby capped a fine display with a goal from the penalty spot.

Friday: Favourites Curraha were crowned Junior Football Championship winners with nine points to spare over Ballinlough at Simonstown. Jack O’Connor gave the winners a perfect start with an early goal and by the end of the first quarter they led 1-5 to 0-2. A Kit Og Lynch green flag brought the North Meath side back into the game but they were rocked minutes later when half forward Darren O’Higgins was red carded by referee Ian Dowdall. Curraha went to the dressing room 1-10 to 1-7 in front. Ballinlough narrowed the lead to one after ten minutes but from there on Gavin Coyle’s men outscored their opponents 2-4 to 0-2, their goals coming from Diarmuid Moriarty and Andrew Coyle, and claim the Peter McDermott Cup.
