IHC B semi final: Kilskyre/Moylagh keep season going

September 30, 2024

Kilskyre Moylagh's James Cooke

Kilskyre/Moylagh 3-22 Wolfe Tones 1-9

Perfect weather conditions for late September and an excellent pitch in Grangegodden which is a credit to Geail Colmchille set things up nicely for an entertaining game in the IHC B championship semi-final.

For the Kilskyre Moylagh hurlers silverware is not something we have in abundance over the lasty thirty years, so a B Championship is progression and not something to be sniffed at.

Wolfe Tones had the breeze the first half, but it took both sides some time to get into their rhythm. Kilskyre Moylagh took the opening score with a well taken point from distance from the ever-busy Jimmy Boyle. Wolfe Tones levelled and then it was a well worked goal from Daire Shine thanks to a quality ball from Willie McGrath. The first half was close and whilst Kilskyre Moylagh went in five points to the better at half time there wasn’t much between the two as mistakes were a plenty.

The second half was a different storey Kilskyre Moylagh got going with purpose as Daire Shine and Willie McGrath continued from where they left off with scores from all angles.  The two stand out performances were from James Cooke and Feargal Flynn. Flynn was relentless in his work rate and deservedly got onto the score sheet with two fine points from play.

Its onto the final now against their close rivals Geail Colmchille in two weeks which will bring a bit of spice before these two sides combine ahead of their U21 Championship campaign.
