St. Michaels 0-13, Ratoath 0-08
An inspired performance from St. Michaels half forward Marion Farrelly in which she scored eight points in this group match in Sean Eiffe Park, Ratoath on Saturday evening last propelled her side into the quarter final versus Walterstown in a couple of weeks time.
It wasn't all a one woman show though as every player in a black and red jersey played their part in achieving this victory. Farrelly (5) and Claire Reilly (1) accounted for all of St. Michaels first half scores in what was a ding dong first half battle with a gutsy home side in which the scores were level on three occasions There is no doubt that the home side will rue a few point chances that they failed to convert but a lot of that was due to the tight marking of the St. Michaels girls.
This was a tale of two halves, a brace of Farrelly points off her left peg early in the new half put her side back in front and this was the start of a superb second half performance for St. Michaels in which they held their opponents to just two points, one from play.
Claire Reilly (2), Seona Lynch (2) and Farrelly (1) all added further minors for the winners however Ratoath came in search of goals but Laura Halpin and her defence stood strong and there was no way through.
