SHC Group A: Defeat for Dunderry in Navan

September 02, 2024

Dunderry's Mark Leavy is under pressure during the SHC clash with Kilmessan at Pairc Tailteann

Kilmessan 3-25 Dunderry 1-15

Pairc Tailtean was the venue for this final group game. A changed up Dunderry outfit with just 2 jersey numbers in the corresponding position and one of them was the goal keepers! Evan Nolan opened the scoring followed by 3 in a row from Kilmessan. Conor Leavy slotted over 2 in succession to level proceedings.  Kilmessan went 3 ahead before Nolan scored his first  from placed balls to leave the deficit at two. Kilmessan hit the net and apart from an Adam Kelly point which was set up by Cian Coogan it was one way traffic as Kilmessan hit  five from play and one free to leave it 0-5 to 1-12 at the interval.

An Evan Nolan point from play and another from a free was all Dunderry could do in answer to five from play and a free in the opening stages of the second half. Kelly taped over his second with thanks to a pass from Ó Laoire but this was answered by a second Kilmessan goal. Conor Leavy pointed his third and we managed to get the ball over the goal line through Mark Leavy. Four more Nolan frees, and Leavy's fourth of the day had the scoreboard reading 1 -15 to 2-23 but the blue and whites drove up the field and finished of the day with another goal and point to leave it 1- 15 to 3 -24

Next up is a senior B quarter final against Blackhall Gaels in Trim on the 14th Sept at 16.00 hrs where all support is welcomed.
