Dunboyne's Darragh Vaughan with Dylan Feehan St. Colmcilles during the MFL Division 1 final at Pairc Tailteann

St. Colmcilles 1-5 Dunboyne 0-7

St. Colmcilles retained the Meath Minor Football League Division 1 title with this narrow win over Dunboyne played in perfect conditions at Pairc Tailteann.

With both teams set up defensively scores were hard to come by for the sixty minutes.

Dunboyne were first to open their account with a Shea Mooney point. Mooney again and Harry Healy had St. Peters three up after 15 minutes. St. Colmcilles were guilty of some bad wides and had to wait till the 25th minute for their only score of the half, midfielder Cillian Murphy sending over a fine point. St. Peters went in at the break 0-3 to 0-1 in front.

The games crucial score came in the opening minute of the second half, Daithi Wade finishing to the Dunboyne net to put his side in front. Cormac Black and Eoghan McBrearty extended their lead. Charlie Gallagher got two back for last years Delany Cup winners. With two minutes left in normal time the holders held that goal advantage. Gallagher and James Lonergan pointed to leave the minimum between the teams. Dunboyne went in search of the equaliser but resolute defending from the Cilles made sure of no extra time and the title was heading back with the Seasiders.

After the game Minor Board Secretary David Campbell presented the Minor Football League Division 1 cup to St. Colmcilles captain Jack Mulligan.
