Longwood 2-28 Blackhall Gaels 0-17

Longwood turned in the performance of the Senior Hurling Championship opening round with this very impressive win over Blackhall Gaels at Pairc Tailteann.

Sean Cole was outstanding for the winners. The half back finished with nine points from play.

Blackhall got the better start with points from Stephen Morris (2) and Dermot Carty inside the opening three minutes. A brace from Sean Cole and one apiece from Anthony Healy and Ryan Moore had the game tied up after ten minutes. It was still all square eight minutes later, 0-8 each, before Longwood made their push for home. Scores from Anthony Healy, Damien Healy, Coloe and Kevin Heagney opened up a four point lead. Damien Healy was fouled inside the square and Anthony Healy made no mistake from the penalty spot. Karl Ennis completed the ten minute surge with another goal and Longwood went to the dressing room 2-14 to 0-9 in front.

It was all about game management for Longwood in the second half. Coloe brought his tally to nine with four second half points. Kevin Heagney, Ryan Moore and Anthony Healy added a brace each as Longwood ran out comfortable winners. 

Next up for Longwood are Killyon while Blackhall Gaels take on Kiltale.
