IFC: Great start for junior champions

The starting Ballivor XV for the IFC clash with Drumbaragh at Sean Newman Park

Ballivor 2-20 Drumbaragh 1-14

Ballivor opened their intermediate campaign against Drumbaragh in Sean Newman Park on Sunday afternoon.

Ballivor were first on the score sheet through a Brendan Mckeon point which was swiftly responded to by Drumbaragh through a free. Ballivor added two further points through Kevin and Brendan McKeon. Ballivor stuck the net on six minutes following a quick attack the ball found its way to Adam Gannon and after beating his man and with Drumbaragh lads closing in he cooly slotted to the net. Drumbaragh again responded with a free before points from Brendan and Kevin McKeon and Podger Geoghgan extended Ballivors lead to 1-6 to 0-2. Drumbaragh added two more points before Ballivor responded through a Kevin McKeon free. Drumbaragh once again added two further points before another Mckeon free let it 1-8 to 0-8. Ballivor added two further points to Drumbaraghs one through Evan Fitzgerald and Kevin McKeon to leave the halftime score Ballivor 1-10 Drumbaragh 0-9.

Drumbaragh were first on the score sheet in the second half but Ballivor responded with five unanswered points through Adam Gannon, Podger Geoghgan (2), Evan Fitzgerald and Brendan McKeon and left it 1-15 to 0-10. Drumbaragh once again responded by getting the next three points to reduce the gap to five. Then in the 50th minute after a good run from Brendan McKeon he fed Podger Geoghgan who bet his man before firing to the net. But Drumbaragh instantly responded with a goal of their own which left the score 2-15 to 1-13. Ballivor refused to be rattled and score the next four points through Adam Gannon (2), Kevin McKeon and Podger Geoghgan. But teams traded a further point each Ballivors coming from Kevin McKeon to leave the final score Ballivor 2-20 Drumbaragh 1-14
