Mayo 0-15 Tyrone 2-14, Croke Park FT

19:09

Padraig Hampsey has raised the Sam Maguire Cup and the most famous silverware in Irish sport is heading back to the O'Neill County for the fourth time. On the day, the Red Hands were top class in every department. Well done again to them and hard luck to Mayo. Thanks for reading our All-Ireland final Match Tracker.

18:50

The Red Hands defended and transitioned superbly throughout and got the big scores when it mattered most. They were professional and precise and are as worthy a group of All-Ireland winners as we have ever witnessed. Congratulations to them!

17:02

Game on!

Mayo attacking Hill 16 in the first half.

17:00

Each team partaking of one last huddle before the battle commences. History is about to be written here on the hallowed turf of Croke Park. Here comes the national anthem...

16:55

The teams line up behind the Artane Band, Mayo on the outside. The parade commences, so the 2021 All-Ireland football final is imminent. Green & Red and Red & White flags flying high. Wonderful atmosphere in Croke Park. The stage is set for one hell of a game!

16:51

Back in the day, we used to have a weekly print magazine here at Hogan Stand. The first man I interviewed when I joined the team in June, 1993 was a young Tyrone footballer called Feargal Logan. Today, we are both still living the dream.

16:44

Mayo won the toss and Aidan O'Shea pointed towards the Davin End. Couldn't hear what he said, though...

16:38

Mayo are warming up under Hill 16; Tyrone completing their preparations at the Davin End. Just over 20 minutes until throw-in. Perfect conditions for football.

16:32

Joe McQuillan is the referee today. In the event of a draw, the match will go to extra time. Should the sides still be level after those additional 20 minutes, we will have a replay.

16:18

Team news:

Oisin Mullin replaces Enda Hession in the Mayo starting XV; the Red Hands surprisingly are going to start as selected. I expected Cathal McShane to be in from the start.

16:14

Meath's 1996 All-Ireland winning captain Tommy Dowd has brought Sam Maguire out onto the field. What a player Tommy was! The Royals came from nowhere with a new-look young team that year and beat Mayo in the final after a replay.

16:02

Mickey Harte led Tyrone to glory in his first year in charge. Can his successors at the Red Hands helm, Brian Dooher and Feargal Logan, emulate him?

15:59

Is this finally going to be Mayo's year? They have been sensational so far without their talisman Cillian O'Connor. Remember, since capturing the silverware in 1951, they have lost TEN finals in total. Nobody would begrudge James Horan's men victory today, that's for sure.

15:50

Mayo have also won three All-Irelands but have suffered final heartache no fewer than 14 times, including five of the last nine finals. They were of course runners-up last year, while the Red Hands last finished on the losing side in 2018.

15:48

This is Tyrone's seventh All-Ireland final appearance. There record stands at three wins and three defeats.

13:42

The stage is set for a fantastic final and I'll be back soon with a build-up to the final followed by instant updates on all the action as it happens.

13:40

Tyrone: Niall Morgan; Michael McKernan, Ronan McNamee, Padraig Hampsey (c); Frank Burns, Kieran McGeary, Peter Harte; Brian Kennedy, Conn Kilpatrick; Conor Meyler, Michael O'Neill, Niall Sludden; Darren McCurry, Mattie Donnelly, Conor McKenna.

13:39

Mayo: Rob Hennelly; Padraig O'Hora, Lee Keegan, Michael Plunkett; Paddy Durcan, Stephen Coen, Enda Hession; Matthew Ruane, Conor Loftus; Diarmuid O'Connor, Aidan O'Shea (c), Bryan Walsh; Kevin McLoughlin, Tommy Conroy, Ryan O'Donoghue.

13:38

Surprisingly, this is only the fifth-ever All-Ireland final to pit the champions of Connacht against their Ulster counterparts - the last time it happened was in 2012, when Donegal defeated Mayo.

13:35

Both sides are bidding to bring football's most-coveted trophy home to their county for the fourth time. Mayo's previous successes came in 1936, 1950 and 1951, while Tyrone claimed their All-Ireland titles much more recently - 2003, 2005 and 2008.

13:31

The Connacht champions stunned holders Dublin at the semi-final stage, while the Red Hands got the better of Kerry in their last-four duel. Both of those matches went to extra time and all the indications are that the novel 2021 Sam Maguire Cup decider will be every bit as closely contested.

13:29

History in the making!

All roads lead to Croke Park, where the first-ever All-Ireland SFC final meeting of Mayo and Tyrone takes place at 5pm.
