O'Flynn is shouldered out over the sideline by Riche Reid and Horgan bangs over the free, which was as soft and debatable as Kilkenny's last one.

16:34

Kilkenny look to be taking control of proceedings. A lot of Cork players have cut anonymous figures so far and could soon be seeing the curly finger of their manager...

16:32

All-Ireland SHC semi-final: Kilkenny 0-19 Cork 0-16

The gap is suddenly four as Reid lashes over another free. Goalscorer supreme Shane Kingston replaces Fitzgibbon for the Rebels. Superb point by O'Flynn for them.

A couple of Kilkenny wides from distance off the hurl of Richie Reid precede a pointed free from TJ Reid, who was fouled himself and pointed from 50 metres.

It's uncanny how these water breaks seem to disrupt the momentum of matches...

15:52

All-Ireland SHC semi-final: Kilkenny 0-8 Cork 0-7

15:43

All-Ireland SHC semi-final: Kilkenny 0-6 Cork 0-4

Foul spotted off the ball by an eagle-eyed referee and Horgan makes no mistake from what was by his standards a simple free.

The Rebels are living on scraps here so they will welcome that pointed Horgan free in the twelfth minute.

15:30

Game on!

Fergal Horgan gets us started! Cork won the toss and are attacking Hill 16...

15:29

The teams stand tall for the national anthem, performed immaculately by the Artane Band as the tricolour flutters in the breeze, Croker awash with colour and noise.

15:24

Overcast but dry in Dublin 3, with a strong breeze blowing towards Hill 16. Will this match be settled in 70 minutes or is extra time - and maybe even penalties - going to be needed to separate the teams?

15:22

This could come down to a straight shoot-out between Patrick Horgan and TJ Reid - which of these ace marksmen will amass the greatest tally in the red heat of Croke Park?

15:16

Team news:

Both sides are going to start as selected. Clearly this is not a day for mind games.

15:13

This is Brian Cody's 20th All-Ireland semi-final as Kilkenny boss; Kieran Kingston's second with Cork.

15:08

Don't forget Kilkenny are hoping to avoid losing out at this stage for the second successive year. They were caught out by Waterford last year, while Cork were beaten by Tipperary in the second round of the Qualifiers.

14:59

Clash of the ash

Just over half an hour until throw-in at Croke Park and the tension is really mounting. There is nothing quite like Cork V Kilkenny in hurling. This is one of the fiercest rivalries of all and it will be renewed with vigour today. I'm expecting both teams to explode out of the blocks from throw-in. It's not going to be an occasion for the faint-hearted.

14:48

Six years is something of a famine by Brian Cody's standards but the Cats boss is going to be remembered as hurling's greatest-ever manager. Since taking charge of his native county in 1998, he had led the Black & Amber to eleven All-Irelands, including four in a row between 2006 and 2009.

14:43

Big guns

The most-recent of Cork's 30 All-Ireland hurling victories was in 2005. Kilkenny's last All-Ireland success arrived in 2015 - their 36th.
